I had a really great conversation with a friend of mine today ( 4estabon ). We talked about how compliments and negative comments alike should never dictate how well done a piece is.
I think it’s nice when others really like your work, and constructive criticism is a great way to improve your work quickly. However, allowing positive and negative comments to fully dictate how you work is incredibly limiting and that’s something I don’t think a lot of people realize.
It’s just that ultimately you need to be happy with it. If you’re the only one who likes your work, that’s all that should really matter because making art for yourself is more infinitely more satisfying than making art just to appease others.
